ABOUT
Samira grew up in a large nuclear and extended family in Beirut, Lebanon, which at the time was the Paris of the Middle East, and its leading financial center. As is the tradition, a large family meant many opportunities to get together and share homemade Lebanese food. Samira developed a passion for food at a young age. She encouraged her mother to go out so she could make her own dishes for her very appreciative brothers and sisters. Samira still makes everything as if it is for her own family, using only the best all-natural ingredients.
Unfortunately, a civil war struck Lebanon in 1975. It destroyed much of Beirut, creating terrible hardships for civilians, and making it impossible to attend school for months. Samira earned a sponsorship to come to the U.S for college. Through determination, hard work, and a well-worn English/Arabic dictionary she ultimately went on to get a graduate degree at Harvard and then a career there.
Samira's coworkers raved about the homemade Lebanese spreads she brought to office events and encouraged her to sell it. She felt the joy of sharing great food with her large Harvard family, and in 2010, she left Harvard to start Samira’s Homemade Food.
Today, Samira’s Homemade Food is a rapidly growing premium brand of all natural, authentic Lebanese spreads, including Baba Ganoush, Muhammara, and Labne with Zaitoun. These delicious dips are produced in Cambridge and delivered the next day to retailers like Whole Foods, Russo’s, Pemberton Farms, and other gourmet food retailers in the greater Boston area.
Samira is passionate about cooking healthy, simple, and flavorful foods. She loves sharing her recipes with her customers and teaching them the different ways they can serve her spreads. Samira has taught numerous cooking classes as well as one on one lessons.
